Sew Weekend: Skirts

I made three skirts this weekend. Two were for me, one was for Lauren. I will have Lauren model hers later, so check back in for photos of that! =)

I have a dress code at work that limits me from wearing a lot of my fun skirts from high school and community college, so I decided to make some simple skirts that I could wear to work. The rule: knee length and made from material that is business-y. Since the second part of that rule (business-y material? wtf!) is a big ambiguous, I decided to interpret that one on my own. ;) The apple/pear skirt probably isn't too 'business-like' but we have chefs that get to wear cool chef scrubs with flaming pepper print and more! I think I should get to wear a fun foodie skirt to work. This is just the start... next up is vegetables. =)

I used basic cotton jersey fabric for the green skirt and a fun fruit cotton print for the ruffled skirt. No patterns - just free hand.

Jersey was a bit hard to work with, it kept bunching when I didn't want it to. I learned how to use interfacing when I was making Lauren's skirt, so her waist band is a bit more defined than my jersey skirt.

Thanks, Gran, for teaching me how to sew so many years ago!!! It is really coming in handy.

Business Casual?

Maybe on a Friday... ;)

A bit more business appropriate
